It’s getting late in the season, and Bristol Rovers are running out of time. Monday’s home clash against Stevenage isn’t just another game — it’s one of the last chances to salvage League One status. Kick-off is at 3PM at the Mem, and every minute will matter.
The Situation
Rovers currently sit 21st in the table, inside the relegation zone, and dangerously close to the trapdoor. The recent run of form has done little to ease fears — defeats to Exeter and Mansfield highlighted how fragile the side can be, especially when under pressure. Both games offered very little in the way of control or cutting edge, and it’s those kinds of missed opportunities that have dragged us into this mess.
But not all hope is lost.
The 1-1 draw away at Wrexham last time out was at least a step in the right direction. It wasn’t spectacular, but there was fight, structure, and a little more belief. It’s something to build on — and now it has to be.
Calderón’s Early Challenge

Since stepping in, Iñigo Calderón has had a tough introduction to life in the dugout. There haven’t been fireworks or a dramatic bounce. He’s spoken well and seems to understand the urgency of the situation, but the performances on the pitch haven’t fully turned yet.
To be fair, he’s working with a group that’s clearly struggling for confidence and cohesion. It’s a short runway to try and fix big problems. What’s needed now isn’t tactical reinvention — it’s basics done well, players digging deep, and a collective will to survive.
Stevenage: No Pressure, But Still a Threat
Stevenage come into this one mid-table, clear of danger and without much on the line — and that can make them dangerous. They’ll play with freedom, without nerves, and they’ll know Rovers are the side under real pressure.
They’ve been up and down lately, but they’re compact, hard-working, and won’t roll over for anyone.
Make the Mem Count
If Rovers are going to claw their way to safety, it has to start at home. The Mem needs to be rocking. The crowd has been there all season — through the chaos and the lows — and now more than ever, that backing could make the difference.
This isn’t about style. It’s about guts, urgency, and refusing to go quietly. We’ve got three games left. One win could change the whole picture. But it has to start now.
It’s time to show some fight. Let’s stand up when it matters.
Up The Gas. Let’s go again.
