The Owners Are to Blame – A Club in Crisis

It’s been a brutal stretch for Bristol Rovers, and a recent fan poll says it all: a staggering 75% of supporters blame the owners for the club’s current state. That’s not just frustration—it’s a damning verdict. George Friend, Calderon, and other figures have taken some heat, but they’re merely symptoms of a deeper, more entrenched issue.
Let’s talk about the past 16 months under the current ownership.
Since taking control, the decision-making has been nothing short of chaotic. From questionable appointments to inconsistent strategies both on and off the pitch, there’s been a clear lack of direction. The squad has been overhauled multiple times with little cohesion, while fans have been left in the dark about the long-term vision—or if one even exists.
The disconnect between the boardroom and the terraces has never felt wider. Promises have been made, but delivery has been nowhere near what was hoped. Meanwhile, results continue to nosedive, and the threat of relegation is very real.

What hurts the most is the missed potential. This club has passionate fans, a proud history, and a city ready to get behind it. But under the current regime, it's drifting—rudderless, voiceless, and dangerously close to collapse.
If things don’t change—and fast—the future looks bleak. The fans deserve better. Bristol Rovers deserves better.
All of this has happened while results have plummeted. We’re now staring at relegation—an outcome that would’ve seemed unthinkable just a year ago. Yet under this ownership, it feels like the inevitable conclusion to a string of poor decisions and broken promises. This isn’t just a bad patch. This is the result of over a year of poor leadership, lack of footballing insight, and zero accountability from the top, there’s no vision. No transparency. And worst of all, no fight from those at the top.
The fans remain loyal. They always will. But loyalty isn’t enough to save a club that’s being mismanaged into oblivion.
It’s time for change. The Gas deserve better.

As a fan of 70 years,it is all so very sad.
