Steve Evans Is Here. Now the Board Must Step Forward

Steve Evans has been confirmed as the new Bristol Rovers manager on a contract until the end of the season.

So now the focus shifts.

First things first. Welcome to Bristol Rovers, Steve Evans. You have our support. The players have our support. The badge always comes before everything else and that will not change. We want you to succeed because your success is our success.

But let us be absolutely clear. This appointment does not reset the clock for the ownership.

Darrell Clarke has gone. A club legend whose first spell gave us some of the best moments we have had as Rovers fans. His return was full of hope, pride and belief, but like others before him he was asked to work in an environment that feels broken above him. Clarke made mistakes, no doubt about that, but anyone who believes this situation begins and ends with the manager is missing the bigger picture.

Four managers have now struggled under this ownership. Different styles. Different personalities. Same outcomes. That is not coincidence.

Steve Evans walks into a football club low on confidence but high on frustration. Supporters are not angry because of one result or one run of form. We are angry because we have been left in the dark for too long. There has been no meaningful communication. No explanation. No accountability. No clear vision for where this club is heading.

Back the team does not mean ignore the problems.

Support the manager does not mean stop asking questions.

This is not about undermining Steve Evans. Quite the opposite. If he is going to have any real chance of success then the board must finally step up and do their part. Talk to us. Be honest. Explain the plan. Explain the mistakes. Explain how this club moves forward.

The contract until the end of the season feels realistic. It gives Evans a clear task and gives the club breathing space. But that breathing space must not be wasted. It cannot be another period of silence while supporters are expected to simply accept what they are given.

We will back Steve Evans. Loudly. Properly. Unconditionally on matchdays.

But backing the team does not mean accepting the status quo.

This is our club. Not a project. Not an asset. Not something to be run behind closed doors.

Steve Evans is here.

Now it is time for the board to speak.
