Rovers Draw Port Vale Away in FA Cup Second Round

ree

Bristol Rovers will make the trip to Vale Park in early December after being drawn away to League One side Port Vale in the second round of the Emirates FA Cup.

The tie will be played between Friday 5th and Monday 8th December, setting up a familiar reunion for Darrell Clarke , returning to his old club for what’s sure to be a lively occasion.

The Gas booked their place in the second round after a 2-1 win at Bromley on Saturday, with Fabrizio Cavegn and Joel Cotterill getting the goals at the CopperJax Community Stadium. It wasn’t the easiest of afternoons, but Rovers showed resilience to see off their League Two rivals and keep the cup run alive.

Port Vale, now under Darren Moore, sit a division above Rovers and will pose a real test ,especially away from home, but there’s plenty of motivation for Clarke’s men. The FA Cup always carries its magic, and a trip to a League One side gives Rovers the perfect chance to measure themselves against higher opposition.

Rovers fans will remember last season’s journey to the third round, where wins over Weston-super-Mare and Barnsley earned a glamorous tie against Ipswich Town at Portman Road. A repeat of that kind of run would go down very nicely this time around.

Ticket details and confirmed dates will follow in due course, but one thing’s for certain: Rovers will travel in numbers, as always.
