No More Silence: The Stadium Question Needs Answering

Back in League Two. That sentence still stings. After all the hard work to climb out of it, after all the talk of progress and upward momentum, here we are – starting the 2025/26 season in the fourth tier.

And while plenty of lessons need to be learned from what happened on the pitch last season, there’s an even bigger one that needs addressing off it: the silence.

Because when it comes to the long-running stadium saga, silence is all we’ve had – and it’s no longer acceptable.

East Stand
East Stand

It’s been years of talk and no action. We’ve heard it all before: the fruit market fell through, the UWE plans collapsed, and since then… tumbleweeds. Now, with new ownership in place, there’s been hope of a reset – a fresh direction, maybe even a clear plan for a new home. But once again, we’re in the dark.

This is the first year back in League Two – it should be a moment for the club to take stock and show supporters there’s a long-term vision. And that starts with clarity about the stadium.

We aren’t demanding glossy CGI mock-ups or ambitious timelines that never get met. What we want is simple: communication.

Are we staying at the Mem for the foreseeable future?

Is redevelopment even on the table anymore?

Are we still pushing for a modern home that matches the ambition we keep hearing about?

If there’s nothing to say yet – say that. Just let the fanbase in. Because one of the most damaging aspects of last season’s relegation was the feeling of disconnect – from the pitch, the dugout, and the boardroom.

We need to rebuild. And that’s not just about players and performances – it’s about trust. Trust that there’s a plan. Trust that we’re not stuck in this cycle of uncertainty and silence forever.

The Memorial Stadium has given us plenty of memories, but we can’t keep pretending it’s fit for a club with aspirations beyond League Two. It’s time to look forward – together.

So to the owners: learn the lesson. No more silence. Tell us where we’re heading, even if it’s just the first step.

We’re not asking for miracles – we’re asking for honesty.

Up The Gas. Let’s start building again.

We've been told...

1 We are staying at the Mem

2.We are developing the Mem

3 We have made concrete decisions on these issues which haven't been made before.

4 We have to understand and have patience with the planning process.

5 What happened on the pitch last season has nothing to do with stadium issues and decisions.

Please stop criticizing and stirring things up for the sake of editorial.

Personally I think it's a decent article, if no progress has been made just tell us. Been for to silent on everything Rovers since they have arrived.
