Gas on Tour: Sun, Sea & Football in Murcia

There’s something special about pre-season. The smell of fresh-cut grass, the sound of the ball smacking leather, and that flutter of hope that this season might just be the one. But this year, Bristol Rovers are taking things up a notch – swapping the West Country for the warm Mediterranean breeze of southern Spain.

Yes, we’re off to Murcia!

Darrell Clarke’s return as Head Coach has already brought a buzz back to the Mem, and now he’s taking the boys abroad for a week-long warm-weather training camp from 6–13 July. It’s not just about topping up the tans – it’s about putting in the hard graft ahead of what promises to be a thrilling 2025/26 campaign.

And the best part? We get to watch it all unfold.

Pinatar Showdown

The highlight of the tour? A tasty pre-season fixture against League One’s Stockport County on Saturday 12 July at 11:30am CET. The game’s set for the impressive Pinatar Arena, a ground that’s seen its fair share of top clubs and international sides.

It’s a cracking opportunity to see how Clarke’s vision is shaping up. New signings? Tactical tweaks? Fitness levels? It all starts here – under the Spanish sun.

Thinking of going?

If you’re one of the lucky ones heading to Murcia, you’re in for more than just football. Think golden beaches, historic streets, tapas on every corner, and the kind of warm, relaxed vibe you just don’t get in a soggy British July.

Tickets for the Stockport match will be available at the gate on the day – more details are expected soon, but it’s already shaping up to be a great day out.

Closer to Home

Can’t make it to Spain? No worries – there are still plenty of chances to catch the Gas in action this summer with confirmed friendlies at Chippenham Town, Bath City, and Yeovil Town.

Bring it on

With Clarke back at the helm, the squad heading into an intense camp, and the fans ready to follow wherever the Gas go, there’s a real sense that something exciting is building.

So whether you're cheering from the Pinatar stands, a beachside bar, or your living room back home – one thing’s for sure.
