Bristol Rovers: Another Reset, Same Old Problems — And It Starts at the Top

Fourteen players out. An entire squad gutted. No clear plan. No communication. Just another summer of upheaval at Bristol Rovers — and at the heart of it all? The Alsaeeds.
This is a mess.
This isn’t a tidy squad refresh. This is another reset. Another summer where we start from scratch, with no real direction or clarity about what comes next. Midfielders gone. Defenders gone. Attackers gone. Loanees sent back. And the silence from the top is deafening.
Grant Ward, Luke McCormick, Romaine Sawyers, Jerry Lawrence — all shown the door. That’s the core of the midfield ripped out.

Jack Hunt, Jevani Brown, Matt Hall — also out. Six loan players gone. Scott Sinclair leaves too, and while some will reminisce, the reality is he hasn’t had a major impact this season. It was time.
But don’t get me wrong, the players who didn’t care needed to go. That’s the reality we’re facing: some of the departures were inevitable. But it’s hard to ignore the fact that it’s another reset year after year. It’s like we’re stuck in a loop of constant upheaval without any real progress.
Then there's Chris Martin — an unexpected wrinkle. Out of contract, but staying at the club to continue his rehab from a knee injury. And weirdly enough, that might actually turn out to be a smart move. Say what you want about age and injuries, but Martin was one of the few who actually looked like a goal threat when he played. If he gets fit again, he could be a key presence — both in the dressing room and on the pitch. A rare bit of foresight, maybe.
And yeah — James Wilson’s contract extension is a win too. He’s been reliable, consistent, and he actually looks like someone you build a back line around.
But those are two decent decisions in a sea of confusion.
Under the Alsaeeds, we’ve seen this pattern over and over: big turnover, vague promises, and hope that a last-minute squad thrown together in preseason will somehow click. No long-term plan, no proper footballing structure, no connection between the boardroom and the fanbase.
Where is the ambition? Where is the football vision? Why does this club feel like it’s constantly reacting instead of leading?
It’s another reset. And let’s be honest, this is getting exhausting. Fans can only take so many seasons of starts and stops, of half-baked ideas and no tangible progress. The club is in constant flux, but where’s the steady hand at the top guiding us through? Where’s the direction?
The fans deserve better than a summer of uncertainty every single year. We deserve a board that communicates, that plans, that builds. Right now, what we’ve got is chaos — and the owners need to own it.
Until then, we’re stuck in limbo. Again.
Over to you, Alsaeeds — prove us wrong.
Or stop pretending you know what you’re doing.
