Alfie Kilgour Returns Home – A True Gashead Comes Back to the Mem

There’s something special about a player returning to the Club they grew up with – especially when it’s someone who bleeds blue and white. And today, that story becomes reality as Alfie Kilgour signs a two-year deal to return to Bristol Rovers, joining from Mansfield Town on a free transfer.

It’s not just a signing – it’s a homecoming.

Kilgour, now 27, started his journey with Rovers as an eight-year-old, came through the ranks, and went on to make 119 first-team appearances between 2016 and 2023. He was part of some unforgettable moments, including our promotion push in 2021/22, and even through tougher spells, he always wore his heart on his sleeve.

Since leaving the Mem, Alfie has gained valuable experience with Mansfield, but as he put it himself – there’s a sense of unfinished business. That passion came through loud and clear in his words:

“I class Bristol Rovers as my home… It’s a fresh start and new beginnings.”

And with Darrell Clarke back at the helm – the man who first brought a teenage Kilgour into the senior fold – this move just feels right. Clarke clearly sees the potential still to be unlocked, and his reunion with Alfie could be key to reshaping our defence going into the League Two campaign.

Director of Football Ricky Martin also spoke of Alfie’s strengths: a no-nonsense, aggressive defender who thrives in duels. And make no mistake – this isn’t just a feel-good signing. This is about bringing in a leader, someone who gets what this Club means to its fans.

We all know what Alfie gives you – commitment, passion, and a connection to the badge that can’t be faked. And now, he gets the chance to write the next chapter of his Gas story.

Welcome home, Alfie.
